CURRENT MISSION
To continue leaving my comfort zone
ABOUT ME
My favorite hobby is sewing and making new things out of collected and found materials. I am working on a BA in broadcast journalism and a minor in women's studies at UMaine in Orono.
I live with three wonderful room mates who are my great friends in a welcoming house in Orono (on the river!). I'm shy when meeting new people. But I seem to meet someone who I don't know everyday-so I've become better at making myself present in the conversation. I love to ask questions and make connections with people. And--I love to host a good (dance) party!
PHILOSOPHY
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have bounced around on my friend's and relative's couches. I slept on a cot in my grandparent's rental in Spain for two weeks. I worked a summer in Rockland, Maine while sleeping on a very comfortable air mattress in my Aunt's house. I'm always up for joining in on an experience and visiting a new place--even if it means I won't be sleeping in my own bed. But so far--I'm fairly new to the CS project.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I found a river that led to a town after getting lost in the Sierra de Almahas in Spain with hardly any water and half a Toblerone.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to share the skill of sewing and handsewing. This is a skill that I feel has faded out as clothes and necessities become easily found out at the mall. I also would love to share crocheting as it is a great hobby that can be taken traveling.
I could also share the town of Orono, a progressive college town with a real local, small business culture.
As Maine has extremely long winters--we have to learn how to do things in the cold and snow. Therefore I could teach CSers the usual winter activities like snoweshoeing, skiing, winter hiking, sledding..
