About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have sooooo many things that I want to do in life that I could plan away the next 10 years without trying...and then never do any of it. I guess that's how a lot of people feel just after they've finished univerisity. So my current mission I guess is just to pursue my curiosity and see where that takes me!

ABOUT ME

As I write this I'm sitting huddled under layers and layers of blankets in a freezing cottage in a tiny village in the middle of France. It's January. I'm on my own and I'm doing an art residency. Several days ago I decided to paint a 2m-2m portrait of my grandfather which is coming along quite well but now I'm going to have to haul a really heavy canvas the length of Portugal and back again. I just eat a chocolate brownie and I'm about to finish Voltair's short stories and drink a glass of red wine...not sure what any of this says about me, but it is quite literally me at this present point in time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly I surf because there is nothing worse than staying in a city and not knowing anybody. I hate surface level interactions with people and places and CS is an excellent way of avoiding that because you meet people and see the city through the eyes of those who occupy it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Good, bad, indifferent, inspiring, strange, terrifying, interesting and inciteful...

Interests

Many things, painting obviously since its what I do most of the time at the moment, reading since its also what I'm mostly doing at the moment, travelling hence why I'm on CS...lots more predictable things like watching films, listening to music, climbing mountains, going on adventures...building houses, that's slightly more unusual and playing violin is possible of interest to some people, I also make my own clothes a lot and am a qualified Scottish dance teacher!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Again, ask me when you see me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn arabic, spanish and french so if you have time and patience to teach me some of these langauges then I would be very grateful. Otherwise just time, knowledge of your country and city and stories from your life!

I also love doing art exchanges so if your an artist, this could be fun?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I play violin and have been involved in Scottish folk music since I was a child so if you have a violin around then I would be happy to show you the basics, teach a tune or have a session. I am also a keen cook so love exchanging vegetarian recipes. Finally, happy also to put photography or general creative art, sewing or building skills to good use where they are needed!
