About Me

Hello! My name is Emma George. I am a 25 year old traveler and special education teacher from the United States. One year ago I quit my job and started traveling in Europe and the Middle East. Now I am currently traveling Asia. One way I’ve built more meaningful relationships while travelling is using Workaway. In a similar way, I think that couchsurfing can create more profound and cultural connections.

I love to cook unique foods, bike on different terrains, ski and hike in the mountains. I like to lay by rivers, go to art museums, read interesting books
and meet new people.

NOTE: This is NOT a dating app. I am not interested in hooking up with any hosts. If those are your expectations, please decline my requests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find it really refreshing to meet new people and learn about different parts of the world. I chose to become a teacher partly so I would have the time off work to travel and learn. Traveling heightens both the difficulties of life and joys of it. Traveling alone helps me feel more grounded and closer to my core. It reminds me that ultimately everything I truly need is within, which is hard to remember in the day-to-day life!

I am interested in staying with hosts while traveling because it's the best way to meet locals and form relationships while in another country. I currently cannot host because of my living situation, but I hope to open up my home to other travelers in the near future. To make life long friends that I can open my home to once I'm settled somewhere would be an honor!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled to Spain for a month after the most difficult year of my life. I was scared about being abroad alone after struggling with anxiety and depression, worrying that I would not be able to handle the trials and tribulations of solo travel. But I felt so grounded and calm the entire time. I loved being alone, something that scared me while back at home. It really helped me find inner peace, and I think that's pretty amazing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and would happily to cook some food for you! I am happy to help with chores such as picking up groceries, cleaning around the house, caring for your pets. We can practice English if that interests you (I am learning Spanish, but not yet at a conversational level!).

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Lebanon, Montenegro, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
