About Me
Hello,
My name is Emma and I'm a friendly wandering soul trying to see as much of the world as I can during the school holidays. During term time I am based in Edinburgh where I will be training to become a primary teacher from September. In the meantime, I will be working at a remote wilderness camp in Ontario this summer making things with sticks.
Having spent the past two years working at an after school club my talents are vast and diverse; I am a competitive Uno player as well as a champion hide and seek participant. Day to day, I will usually be covered in either glitter or mud. I'm also really good at reading stories.
I previously studied Textile Design at University and occasionally dabble in art based pursuits. Most recently this has mainly involved painting fences for elderly ladies.
I love pets/animals and especially doggos, dreaming of owning a pupper of my own is the closest I will ever come to having a 'five year plan.'
Being outdoors is cool!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people, sharing stories and going on adventures. Having lived with host families in Berlin, Budapest and London I've found that staying with locals is the best way of getting to know a new place and becoming more fully immersed in the culture.
Interests
I'm a vegetarian and love trying new foods and recipes - I will happily cook in exchange for a roof over my head :D
Coffee and chat is good. Beer is better.
I like wandering around unfamiliar places, exploring in a haphazard fashion.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: currently I am reading 'Things to do with Sticks,' 'The Philosopher and the Wolf,' 'Americanah,' and 'Names for the Sea.' A fine blend of fiction, non-fiction and biography. All are excellent. Also just finished 'Persepolis,' will always love books with pictures.
Films: Before Sunrise, Frances Ha, Little Miss Sunshine, Blue Valentine, What We Do In the Shadows, Wes... etc!
Muzak: Twilight Sad, The National, Arab Strap, Bjork, King Creosote, etc but also Drake because I'm a bad feminist.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed into a bin in the rain to retrieve a ball for a child.
Teach, Learn, Share
I specialise in printed textiles and weaving and would happily impart some advice / share skills in this area!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am prepared to bribe you with sugary treats from my homeland in return for your hospitality. I love to cook and would happily prepare a meal in exchange for a bed :)
I am friendly, open, respectful and love to share stories.
