ABOUT ME

We are two girls, emma and kerstin, spending an extended period of time in Europe. We both travelled together at the start of 2012, which was the beginning of our euro-saga. Both living separate lives now, kerstin having been in England and emma in Denmark, but coming together whenever we can to travel and explore.

We both finished our Bachelors in Environmental Management in 2011 and have a passion and interest in environmental issues and sustainability. We are also interested in how environmental issues are linked to politics and development and are keen to broaden our knowledge and perspectives of different systems and ideas in Europe. We love the outdoors and being able to see and experiences different natural environments throughout the world.

Aside from this we have a great passion and love for music of all sorts. We have most fun when we are dancing, talking to people about music and hearing new sounds of the planet. Also big book worms. We are easy going, clean, friendly, fun and can return generosity with cooking, wine and good conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

This is a tricky one. I think we both believe strongly in treating people, places and environment with respect. It is so important to appreciate all the amazing things in the world and be grateful for how lucky we are. We want to live in a more open world where exclusion and segregation don't exist.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have done a little bit of couchsurfing through the couchsurfing network as well as us unofficially with people we've met along our travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For the most part of our travels we have been unofficially couch surfing, staying with friends, friends and travellers we have met along the way as well as camping so our experiences with hosts we've met through this site has been limited to the last couple of places we have visited. It has been so inspiring for us and we can not believe this whole world of couch surfers and travelers existed before. The friends we have made and generosity we have felt along this trip has made our experiences so special and we can not wait to start returning the favor and hosting when we get back to Australia.

oh my gosh so many. just a few bands but incredibly difficult to list. the beatles, bob marley, the strokes, grizzly bear, sigur ros, the middle east, lcd soundsystem, notorious b.i.g., sufjan stevens, group love, tom waits, architecture in helsinki, gypsy jazz, the cat empire, wilco, arcade fire, cat power, chapelier fou, sia, unknown mortal orchestra, oh mercy, paul kelly and his gorgeous nephew, aretha franklin and the list in endless. We love being introduced to new sounds!

we carry kilos of books with us everywhere and our wallets are in serious danger any time we get near a book store.
