About Me

My name is Emma. I have been alive for 24 years counting. About four years ago I let go of everything I knew and left Denmark determined to not go back and start university. I was honestly just really scared, scared to fail. So much, to let people down, to underestimate the effort going to school would be.
I was running away and I did good. I did the fighting of accepting my choices. And so accepting them really made my open to accept what life could bring me on the lonely road away from home.
I took jobs anywhere I went and was taught skills schools couldn’t have given me. I was a camp counseler for a while.
I can honestly say that good company and crazy beautiful people is the main ingredient to how I kept going.
A while back in threw my backpack and seeds in the heart of san Cristóbal and started breathing in and out, became a yoga teacher, now a nanny and the luckies owner of a sweethearted streetdog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I made this profile when I started traveling, before I knew how great a part of traveling it is to meet people and help and be helped. I am on Couchsurfing because I generally see so great opportunities for people to meet across country and culture. I think I also agree with every single good comment anyone has ever made about Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

My relationship with music is like my relationship to food - I start craving a tune and I go find it. Mostly i listen to a song over and over again to get rid of my craving. It can be any kind of genre, really. If my earbelly wants it there is no pressing pause, even if it’s one of those songs that you’d rather listen to in your earplugs, I turn it up. Maybe as a reaction to travelling and not feeling judged I think anyone would make their guilty pleasure into a shared and loud dig along. I guess. I am using my dads Netflix so my relationship to movies have changed, and my computer don’t have a disk drive. Luckily there is beautiful small theatres where I live that will press play to any good old classic. Those I love. Best for last I work in a bookstore, a secondhand institution sort of bookstore in the middle of san Cristóbal de las Casas and have the magnificent privilege of always being a second away from a great book. Lately I got into murakami but I also reconnected with my love for young adult books. I can always talk about book. Forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once, jumped on an airplane to Canada and crossed my fingers that life would be amazing and then it did. Anywhere I have gone in this world have showed me new opportunities new backroads to find a way to do life a little different than what my parents prefers, I would love to just sit down and hear yours stories and share mine.
But I cannot hold it, i flew over the whitest purest, freezing wonder of Greenland with five of my best dogs on a handmade sled, back when I was 7 and had no idea what I now am missing so much.
And once living there I was also for a few night canned in a tent in the middle of the country with the purest of a night sky hanging over me and dogs howling lulling me to sleep in the wilderness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a yoga teacher on paper. Vinyasa. I can teach that but I much rather go to a nice spot and do yoga with people, I love teaching children and children with a childish mind. I want to learn anything, my brain likes to stretch as much as my body. Present me any opinion or fact and I’ll keep it somewhere. It won’t come out in a game of trivia but surely in a random conversation way later than I was supposed to remember. My brain is my regular dance partner and we both have two left feet. I love to share stories, ideas, creative moments with mulled wine and good company. I love quit as much as I love noise.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook fairly good! I almost never eat meat, as it probably better so say never. So my skills are much stronger when it comes to vegetarian food!
I can share responsibilities and I can help with anything I believe, I’ll definitely try.
I’m much more comfortable doing something, working hard and feel a sense of purpose in other people’s life’s.
