About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live a challenging, exciting, and adventurous life
ABOUT ME
I live for adventure and anything that breaks away from a dull life. I have traveled with my family since I was a kid, but first broke away from the "resort" type vacation when I was 16 and took off to Buenos Aires for a month or so. Since then I have lived in Switzerland for a year, the Seychelles for 10 weeks, Senegal for four months, and done a bit of travelling around Europe, Indonesia, Egypt, UAE, etc. I volunteered in Indonesia last year for five months and now am back full time with a job, having hopped a one way flight to Bali and for the first time not having an end date to my adventure.
I also have an insatiable addiction to M&Ms :)
PHILOSOPHY
ku muñ muuñ
A Wolof phrase I learned while living in Senegal, roughly translated to "he who perseveres will smile"
Now, interpret it for yourself, but to me it is all about building your own destiny, tying hard work to success, not financial or even tangible, but personal. It's about passing through the hard times, not giving up, but also about not taking the easy route in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been a private couch surfer in my travelling days, and have let people crash on my couch in my house here before, but this is my first time using the site.
Interests
I work a lot...at least five days a week, often though going weeks without a day off. But after work I love being able to meet people for a beer or good food, especially over a game of pool or live music. Bali is great for meeting like-minded travelers and sharing crazy experiences.
I love taking off on my motorbike and going for road trips. It's hard to get (too) lost in Bali, and if you do, then you find the coolest most beautiful places not on the tourist map (or maybe they are, I don't carry one). I love showing up a in a new city/island/country without a place to stay or a clue what's next, meeting people, and travelling with them for a while. Travelling is like kindergarten i like to say, like those days where all you had to say is "hi, my name is ____. Let's be friends." I love that on the road you can meet people, share one meal then agree to take off together and explore like you've known each other for years. The best adventures don't come from a Lonely Planet guidebook.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bill Bryson is my favorite author, I love his dry humor and sarcasm, and though mine might not be as eloquent, I certainly relate to it. I'm a Colorado girl at heart, so even though I escaped the West several years ago, country music still has a place in my heart, though really I listen to a very broad range of American and international music. I love hearing about new artists to add to my tired playlists.
