About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am firstly exploring Australia for a little over a month, traveling from Melbourne up to Brisbane by whatever mode of transportation I can find! I have a flight from Brisbane to Phuket, and from there on I will get back to my home country Sweden without the use of planes. I will ravel through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Russia. This is at least the dream, I hope I can make it all the way! Included in the mission is to explore the food culture of all the places I meet; I am an eating tourist for sure! The most important thing that I will pack is my "do it your self"-recipe book where I hope to fill the pages with amazing food from my trip!

ABOUT ME

As noted above, I love trying new food, and this is a huge part of my traveling ways! This also makes me a rather easy going traveler since I will be quite happy if I am just allowed good food and have my legs to walk around with. Do not really need big extravagant things, I just want to see how you guys are living, how life is in other places of the world. I have up until now lived only in cultures which are fairly similar to the one where I grew up (Have been living in Switzerland, England, Netherlands och Canada), so I am extremely excited to widen my horizons!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been looking forward to have an opportunity to participate here at CS for some time now (as you can see I became a member in 2014) but never found a good time to do so. Obviously now as I will be backpacking through Australia, Asia and Russia, this is the perfect opportunity to be a part of this community. Hopefully I will, for the first time, have my own place to live when I get back from my travels and then I also plan to start hosting as well (which will be so exciting!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have just hosted twice, and that was really a lot of fun! Have not tried to surf myself yet so I am looking forward to it a lot! Hope to fill this part with long explanations of my experiences in not too long!

Interests

Travelling (but mostly if I can stay longer in a place, but am trying the faster backpacking way now!), reading (a lot of classics atm, but that is constatly changing; last year I had a old crime novel period!), history (very general term there, but am interested in times gone by in a lot of fields!), vintage hair styles (got quite good at that during the years so if you want me to teach you something I can!), secondhand stores, cooking (especially local/different food, as you migth have noticed from the previous explanations) old movies (all from silent b/w to cheesy 60's romance)!

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a really hard one! I am quite slow with these things and usually just 'consume' what is infront of me... With music: I have an old iPod which has not been updated since 2009 which I listen to (a lot of Swedish pop there). My spotify is slowly starting to explore its potentials, but it is mostly through borrowing others' playlists! Mostly I would say I listen to calmer and slower music! I also listen a lot to local radio, so some chart-songs sneak in to the repertoire I would say!
I am afraid to say that it is the same with movies as well. I have not had internet for a long time so I do not really keep up in that way, and mostly I get stuck watching 'cozy detective movies' such as Poitor, Miss Marple, Midsumer Murders. I have watched a lot of movies in the 1001 movies you should see before you die book, the silent b/w ones and I like that a lot. I have a preference for old movies, or movies which are in a historic setting! Series I watch are GOT, Mad Men, Peaky Blinders, Fröken Fridmans Krig, Sherlok Holmes among others!
Books would take way too long to go through; I read everything and a lot!! (Would make my day if you wanted to do a book swap with me if you host me!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving abroad! Cannot take this space to explain how much that benefits your person, it has been amazing, all the four times!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Would not mind doing tandemtalks! The languages I know are Swedish, English, French and Dutch, the first two fluently, the other two rather well. I could teach you about Vintage hair do's. I am also quite a good math tutor, but on a not to advanced level.
Learn: If any of the above is interesting to you I would love to learn some skills that you might posses!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, England, Sweden, Switzerland
