About Me

Hey, I'm Emma - dreamer, dancer, yogi, meditator, environmental & political activist, writer, artist, wild creature, traveller, lover, student of life… currently living and travelling in Portugal to learn about permaculture.

Travelling has taught me a lot about magic. My experiences over the years of hitting the road and just trusting what will unfold has been something like Terrence McKenna’s definition of magic: “hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a featherbed.”

What currently lights me up are my herbal medicine studies, jumping into the cold ocean, soul connections with people & land and wild dancing!! I’m happiest when in nature - in a forest, in the ocean, running through fields. I also love long periods of wild camping. Also…
books, I am a complete book addict. Usually travelling with about five of them, at the cost of never having enough socks.

I care about being in respectful relationship with the earth and each other. I love to create and be in community. I tend to think deeply and live lightly, with much laughter. Everybody's a friend.

Love!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy any good music… right now it’s Irish folk (check out the band Lankum), Iranian and Turkish Sufi music, Tibetan chanting, jazz, Northern soul, ska, reggae and dub, Afro psychedelica… anything I can dance to!!

I read a good bit of philosophy and poetry, that’s my happy place. Ecophilosophy specifically. But I’ll read most things - Diary of a Wimpy Kid is always a hit with my little brother and I. That’s comic genius. Favourite writers/poets at the moment are Sophie Strand, Manchán Magan, Joy Harjo and Paula Meehan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Woke up again this morning!!! Blessed to be free and alive.
