Overview
About Me
I've decided to live before I die. Following my own path no matter how hard it sometimes can be. On the road I feel most alive.
I like trying new things and usually get a bit carried away with everything. For example when I started running, it was very natural for me to eventually run a marathon. Or the thing that I am planning on buying my own sailing boat in the future and sailing around the world (never sailed in my life - yet). I think there is no point in learning how to sail if the goal is not to sail around the world eventually. I guess I like challenges.
The less I own the better I feel. I think too many possessions reduce freedom. You can try to impress me with money and fortune but will never succeed.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to be active in Helsinki Couchsurfing community whenever I am in Helsinki. For many years I was not able to host anyone, but since I moved into a big enough flat I FINALLY started hosting too after surfing so much :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed for the first time in my life in June 2014 and started using couchsurfing more after that. Before I had been staying at random people's homes a lot on the road but not from couchsurfing. Hosted surfers since October 2017.
Interests
Traveling, hitchhiking, music, art, running and photography. I also enjoy talking about politics and learning from different cultures. Enjoy cooking too, especially if it includes a lot of chilli!
I love nature and hiking.
I don't really enjoy spending time in night clubs - a glass of wine and good conversations are more my thing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Live music is almost always great. My favourite bands/singers include the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Frank Turner, Social Distortion, First Aid Kit, Mumford & Sons, Kate Tempest, Jaakko & Jay, Nekromantix, The Rolling Stones etc.
I like honest travel stories (Paul Theroux), political literature and whatever I can somehow link to my current location.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think it is difficult to pick just one amazing experience, but probably it is one of the first two longer hitchhiking trips I've done:
Hitchhiked 7350km from Moscow, Russia to Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan in 2015.
Hitchhiked more than 9000km from Baltic Sea (Estonia) to Persian Gulf (Iran) in 2016
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very good at boring the hell out of people with my travel stories and love to hear others tell theirs :)
I can also give some advice for hitchhiking, since I have a lot of experience (tens of thousands of kilometres in more than 30 different countries).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am always happy to play my guitar and sing some songs!
