Hi,

I'm Emmet, Cardiff born and bred (I'd like to say CF24, but the hospital is just over the postal border). I'm currently doing A Levels in English Literature, German, Maths and History. I want to read English at Oxford University, so I spend a lot of time reading and writing to reach that goal. I love walking and travelling, and I catch the free weekend bus to mid-Wales or Pembrokeshire every other weekend.

I have a passion for poetry, Lidl and the 1940s. I'm young and want to experience as much as I can before I have a heart attack or get put in a test tube. Be my friend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Haven't done much travelling alone yet (I'm only eighteen, mun), but I know it can get pretty lonely and I love to exchange culture with cool strangers. I can be pretty shy and I need to learn to come out of my shell. Plus, I don't have much money so I need to travel on the cheap (I never go to hostels, just camp).

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of music: lots of punk, shoegaze, indie, jazz, ska and whatnot, "world", 19th/20th century classical music (not a fan of Mozart or Bach, particularly)

Books: I want to read English at Oxford, so I try to read as widely as possible. Favourites would be Tennyson, both Rosettis, Eliot, Yeats, Larkin, Lawrence, Hemingway, the Brontë sisters (not Anne so much), Camus and Sartre, Orwell, Auden, Woolf, Hesse, Brecht, Solzhenitsyn, Kapiscinski, Alexievich, Hobsbawm, Beat Generation stuff, Laurie Lee, Waugh, and lots of welsh writers (Cymru am byth).

Teach, Learn, Share

I am learning German (doing an A Level, and want to become fluent), can teach English and basic Welsh phrases, could make welsh cakes or something to "share culture" and I'm fairly good at cooking (if I do say so myself).
