ABOUT ME
Originally from Alaska, went to college in Ohio and spent my first year after school living in France teaching English/ volunteering rebuilding houses and the next almost one year backpacking through Nepal, SE Asia, and South America. Currently embarking on my PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. I'm a wanderer as well as a huge nerd, love books, music, film, traveling and exploring new places. Night owl but of course respectful of other people's hours; same for the fact that I'm always up for an adventure or a party!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The same explanation for much of my travel habits: love of adventure and new experiences + I'm a poor backpacker!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: '70s cinema (Stanley Kubrick!) is probably my favorite, but a few titles: Dr. Strangelove, Paths of Glory, V for Vendetta, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Easy Rider, The Grand Illusion, Full Metal Jacket...and definitely Pirates of the Caribbean ;)
Writers: George Orwell, Christopher Hitchens, Samuel Beckett, Joan Didion, J.M. Coetzee, Jean-Paul Sartre, Margaret Atwood, Arundhati Roy, Salman Rushdie, Khaled Hosseini. Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings fan for life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking to Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal. Bartending in Colombia. Machu Picchu & trekking in Peru. Biking Death Road in Bolivia. Skydiving. A lot of amazing concerts (the Menzingers, Cage the Elephant, Foo Fighters, Rise Against, Jackson Browne, Judas Priest, Dropkick Murphys, Band of Skulls...). Sitting on the Seine and watching Paris light up at night. Exploring ruin pubs in Budapest.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of travel experience and tips, if you're interested! Also my French and Spanish are mediocre and downright awful, respectively, but I'm more than happy to practice them if someone wants :) (or English of course, I'm told I speak that one very well)
