ABOUT ME

My long term interests have been in art, nature, and outdoor sports. Over the course my college education, I developed a desire for a more self-sufficient, harmonious, and creative lifestyle. I am generally interested in learning to live in greater simplicity and wisdom. recently i have been involved with natural building and gardening. I enjoy cooking, being outdoors, eating and learning about the uses of wild plants, slack lining and rock climbing, drawing, and making things instead of buying them.

PHILOSOPHY

A person reaps what he sows, so I try to be kind in thought, word, and deed. Although not wise, I still aspire to wisdom.

I love the idea of travelers relying on the kind and generous hospitality of the local people. although i cannot yet offer a couch to travelers, I would like to do so in the future. for now i am a traveler who hopes to honor those people who are offering their couches.

Music, Movies, and Books

my taste in music tends toward traditional types from around the world, instrumental, devotional. I like music in moderation. I am not a movie person, but I admit there must be many good ones i just have not seen. One of my favorite books is Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, because it is so inspiring and entertaining.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will sharpen any decent kitchen knives, I always bring my benchstones when visiting family and friends. sometimes am able to come up with ingenious solutions to problems. good at drawing and have an above average sense of balance. I like to cook. am interested to learn about house building, composting toilets, collecting rainwater for household use and gardening, homesteading skills in general, japanese woodblock printing, gardening.
