ABOUT ME

I recently moved to Albany, OR from Portland. Before that, you would have found me in Baltimore, Greenville, NC and Flagstaff, AZ. I'm not one to stay sedentary for too long. I'm outrageously independent but do still rely on my friends and family for support to get me through the day. My main focus in life right now is to further my education and actually become a grown-up (although there's no big rush).

PHILOSOPHY

Just because someone can't talk, doesn't mean they don't have anything to say. I'm dedicated to changing the lives of others, especially individuals with special needs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the community but have acclimated very quickly with the help of awesome roommates. I want to help newcomers, either passing through or just moved, feel welcome as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed during a summer roadtrip from AZ to NC. It was the best experience I've had. Not only did we get to meet some truly amazing people, but we got to see a side of the cities we stayed in that were off the beaten path.

Interests

In my free time (if I ever have any) I like outdoorsy things, traveling, reading, and good beer. I'm super into music and live for music festivals. I'm very easy going and down to try almost anything. You only live once!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is my life. I will listen to anything from obscure indie rock to catchy pop played over and over on the radio. I love to read; some of my favorite authors are Tom Robbins, Cormac McCarthy, Chuck Palahniuk, and Gregory Maguire. My favorite movie of all time is Dumb and Dumber; but I do love a movie that makes me cry at the end...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped teach a 15 y.o. girl how to walk again 6 months after a surgery when no one was sure if she would ever again. I had been working very hard with a team, but I was the one with her when she took those first couple steps. I had never been so taken over with emotion, it was truly one of the best moments I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Doing things for other people does not only help them, but it helps you too. I try to give one random person a compliment everyday.
