Overview
About Me
I'm a recent graduate of Latin American studies at the University of Liverpool, currently living and working in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
I am an ESL teacher and freelance translator. I also have a startup which I work on with a team here in Porto Alegre which aims to help bikers navigate Brazilian cities more safely. I also do some writing over on my Medium account: medium.com/@emyrwhumphreys.
I like to read, write, bike, meet new people, watch good movies, and eat.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Probably the same reason as everyone else: the face-to-face and human touch that couchsurfing brings. I've had nothing but positive experiences sharing our space with travellers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Gone to the Welsh colony in Patagonia to explore and learn about my fellow countrymen, while talking in Welsh to Argentinians.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some Spanish, Portuguese Welsh or English. I can show you some wonderful and amazing music.
My pancake-making skills are second to none.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Curiosity! I love learning about people and places. Like I mentioned above, I can share the languages I picked up while living in South America, and also give travel advice and tips for anyone looking to travel to Buenos Aires or the southern region of Brazil.
I can also share chimarrão, which is a common tea-like drink from the south of Brazil and the Pampas area of south America which you drink through a straw and pass around. It's a lovely social custom :)
