About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy my life and help others enjoy their's too!

ABOUT ME

I was raised back in the woods and love spending time outside. I am an avid cyclist and, the summer of 2012, I engaged in a 6 week long unsupported bike trip around western Europe (Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and France) from May 15 to the end of June. I have seen a lot of beautiful and interesting places and have met a lot of cool new people on that trip, a LOT of them through couchsurfing and warmshowers.org! After returning to the U.S., I still had the "travel bug," so a friend joined me and we hitch-hiked across the country from coast to coast and back in the time span of another 6 weeks.
I just graduated from Shepherd University with a degree in chemistry and mathematics. Then three days after graduation I went down to Costa Rica for a few months; it was fantastic! Now I'm back in the US trying to find a direction.
I enjoy hanging out and learning about other people and their experiences. I also enjoy dancing and singing and partying and playing music. I am considerate and optimistic and open-minded :)

PHILOSOPHY

Do more and enjoy life :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I traveled around Europe, I began utilizing couchsurfing for the first time and have found so much joy from spending time with hosts and even meeting a group of couchsurfers for a hiking trip in the French Alps! Once I have a place of my own one day, I hope to host people passing through my town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great hiking trip and many friendly hosts

Interests

My interests include cycling, foosball(babyfoot), hanging out with people, learning about other cultures, traveling, gardening, origami, natural foods and lifestyles, art, chemistry, math, dancing, singing, partying, hearing/performing music, and other such joys.

Music, Movies, and Books

Old time country and blue grass music, folk music, classic rock 'n' roll (i.e., Steppenwolf, Santana, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, etc.), and the music at clubs (I like dancing to this kind of music) are the kinds of music I have found the most joy with; however I can enjoy and appreciate other kinds of music.
I enjoy reading; recent texts include Fermat's Enigma, Tao Te Ching, On The Road, Journey to Ixtlan, and various works by Stephen King. I don't watch many movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had been engaging in a raw food diet for a couple of months (but I will eat almost any food while traveling) and I have found that this diet has given me more energy and more balance in my body and in my life; I recommend it for anyone. Also, I am the foosball champion of Shepherdstown; no one in town (or from out of town) can consistently beat me :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone how to fold simple (or even more complex) origami figures. I can identify a number of edible plants, but really would like to learn more! I also know how to travel very lightly and frugally.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland
