Overview
About Me
I'm open-minded, interested, fun, respectful, queer and friendly and like to meet people from all over the world to show them around or just to chat together. I enjoy the diversity of the world and the people that live on it (ok, maybe not all of them). I always seek new experiences, can be restless one day and enjoy a moment forever the other...
I find it quite difficult to describe myself with a few words, but I'm sure you won't be negatively surprised!
In my main job I am an engineer, but besides I also have my own travel business (www.beyondtravel.ch).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to host and show people around. Cook, eat and drink together. Assist people to discover the world as good as I can. Get to know my travel destinations through the eyes of the locals.
Whether it is for a city walk, cooking a nice dinner, night-long philosophic discussions over a cup of tea or a party night out - let's meet!
Interests
Improv theatre, traveling, food, drinks, art, design, ...
I enjoy new experiences, quirky non-tourist attractions, a good wine or whisky or beer, thinking and talking about whatever, shitloads of fun, sometimes tranquility - sometimes wild parties, long train rides, black humor, maps, everything from languages to science and architecture, food markets - oh come on I cannot possibly list everything!
When traveling I like soaking up the atmosphere of the places, try the local food and find hidden gems. Usually I'm more excited about quirky things, places where the locals are and just the general vibe than the typical crowded tourist attractions.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Pop, some Electro, ...
Movies: For example Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Monty Python, Stanley Kubricks works, but of course there are many more. I generally prefer the more independent films over big Hollywood productions.
Books: Can be political, satirical, philosophical or just entertaining. Some of the many authors I enjoy reading are Hermann Hesse, Bertolt Brecht, Friedrich Duerrenmatt, George Orwell.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Only one? Let's take this for example: Sneaking from Tajikistan into Kyrgystan for a weekend in a rusty Sowjet holiday camp and back without passport or visa. Or drinking homemade strawberry wine in Iran.
