About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Reaching a lifestyle where there are no deadlines, no need to hurry

ABOUT ME

Originally Italian, I am a 29yo based in London working in a zero-waste kitchen, while working on my photography on the side. I love adventure: thanks to travelling I had the chance to approach different cultures and points of view, as well as awesome food. I climbed the Japanese Fuji and the Italian Alps, travelled through the Norwegian fjords and the Swedish plains, visited the menhirs of Carnac and the Cliffs of Moher, and much more, hopping from car to car, discovering the stories of many strangers.
During my free time I like to plan trips and getting myself lost around maps, reading, taking pictures, watching movies or discovering new music.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't ask, the answer will always be no.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To enjoy and discover more of the places I visit by seeing them through the eyes of those who live them day by day.

Interests

What I like the most is travelling: if I did not depend on my future career I would be constantly moving to discover as much as possible.

I like to see the world through the camera lens, stopping little moments of beauty so that others can get a chance to enjoy them too, from street photography to architecture and nature.
Cooking also brings me heaps of joy: I try to work mostly with locally sourced seasonal ingredients, and foraging extra bits whenever possible makes it even more pleasant.

If I'm not cookin or shootin, you can probably find me at exhibition openings, hiking or bouldering :)

Music, Movies, and Books

For what concerns movies I'm keen on an any sort of genres apart horrors (still welcome your recommendations though!) and recent commercial rubbish. I love 50's/60's movies and auteur theory. As for directors, I especially like the first bits of Wes Anderson, Orson Welles and Woody Allen. I do actually watch a lot of Japanese and Korean movies as well ('Oldboy' is my favourite so far) . My favourite movie remains 'Blade Runner' (1982) though. Otherwise I also enjoy Mexican and Argentinian movies.

I mainly listen to bands from the 60's and 70's. My favourite band is The Beatles, but I still like much of the electronic recent production. I enjoy rock, pop, classical, electro swing, some rap, jazz, blues, minimal, house, techno, and balcan ska. Recently, I've been exploring loads of Japanese city pop from the 80s, which is just great!
More recently I've been obsessed with bossa nova and indie bits like boygenius and similar :)

My favourite author is Jack London, and I'm trying to read most of his books. I like French and English literature/poetry from XIX century, and authors like Hemingway or Terzani. I'm also keen on the degrowth theories promoted by Serge Latouche and Junger's socio-political theories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting real people through my trips is probably the most amazing thing I've ever done and hopefully it's not finished yet.
Individuals who opened their houses or gave me lifts with no clue about my past, though capable of trusting me and teaching me a lot.

Ten years ago already I did a (mostly) solo trip of 46 days around Scandinavia, starting from Copenaghen to North Cape going through Sweden and Finland and then down the Norwegian coast. I was hosted by Sami people and in their regions I struggled a bit due to the lack of food, sleep and humans in general I would say (past Kiruna it's reindeers' land).

Otherwise I backpacked for 40 days in Japan, sleeping in the most diverse places from 5* hotels to the street, from couchsurfing to the forest.
