About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spontaneous adventurer...

ABOUT ME

I am a confident and enthusiastic lad and I love doing random things. I'm also adventurous, highly spontaneous and sometimes sarcastic . I enjoy experiencing new cultures and meeting lots of great people from around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Push my comfort zones, succeed in all my goals, be relentless, but yet don't take myself too seriously. Ultimately to be a happy lad! Gotta love life, it's class!

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention to arrive safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: Wow!! What a ride!”
Western culture has things a little backwards right now. We think that if we had every comfort available to us, we’d be happy. We equate comfort with happiness. And now we’re so comfortable we’re miserable. There’s no struggle in our lives. No sense of adventure. We get in a car, we get in an elevator, it all comes easy. What I’ve found is that I’m never more alive than when I’m pushing and I’m in pain, and I’m struggling for high achievement, and in that struggle I think there’s a magic."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am looking to meet some interesting people across America and to meet great people that can have a couch at my apartment in Hong Kong.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed at a guys place in Santa Barbara in 2009. Crazy place in Isla Vista - the students are big partyers there...

Interests

Soccer (football)and all sports in general - I am a big Manchester United Fan. My favorite sport is Boxing and I watched Joe Calzaghe - the welsh wonder - beat Roy Jones at Madison Square Garden! That was a special moment.!

Reading books that challenge and entertain me.
I have been playing guitar for 2 years and love learning new songs.

Music includes alot of British Bands like Oasis, The Who, The Verve, The Smiths, Morrissey, coldplay, David Bowie, The Stone Roses through to American Music like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings of Leon etc....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did the Hong Kong Full Marathon last year - it was my first marathon and made me collapse after the finish line - didn't get up literally for an hour and then got walked home by my friends.

I'm a big fan of adrenaline rush activities - did the highest bungee jump in the world in Macau.I performed a solo sky dive in England a few years ago. It was unbelievabley scary, but i loved the thrill!

When I first started playing guitar I played Kum ba Yah my lord to 1000 students at the primary school I was working at in Hong Kong - it was done as a joke/dare for my colleagues, as I think you would agree - its a terrible song and it was difficult not to just burst into laughter.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been learning guitar for close to two years. Hated it with a passion for a while, playing like a robot, but the stubborn part of me couldn't give it up, and a while ago a switch went off and now I love it - learnt a big lesson there - persistence is the key boys and girls! If I'm surfing or hosting I'll play or teach to my limited ability:-)

I've lived away from home for 4 years and what you learn away from home is priceless. Some of the people where I live are a bit Hillbilly so you notice the difference when you go back home...
