ABOUT ME
I hope my friends say I'm a great person to be around! Fun, generous, interested, interesting, always ready to laugh, always ready to understand, always ready to learn...
I grew up in London and when I was 18 moved to Manchester to study and stayed for 3 years. I used to think London was too big and stressful, and to be able to do stuff in the centre of town and get home and to still feel fresh enough to do things was...hm...refreshing;)
Then I moved back to London for a year, and to be honest, didn't like it (same old same old). Then I got very lucky and managed to get a place to study in Germany and stayed for 3 years. I was in Wuerzburg which is an amazingly beautiful town on a river with a castle up on a hill. It was a shame to leave but I was offered a job working in Bahrain. In the end I stayed there for 7 months (didn't suit me but it's a very long story) so decided to come back to the UK.
I did a bit of work/study in Birmingham, and now I work as a violinist in London. Mostly I play for ballat orchestras and outside that I'm trying to build up a portfolio of freelance work.
I do feel very lucky to have moved around as it really gives you a chance to get to know yourself and really discover what the world is like. You discover what is important to you and also what other people consider important.
PHILOSOPHY
There are 2 sides to everything - I like to try and understand both.
Traveling isn't about seeing places, it's about meeting people (stolen from another CSer's page....)
The worse thing is life is to regret NOT having done something.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed quite a few times now and had great experiences every time. My hosts have been wonderful people with a broad range of interests and life-experiences.
2 Summers ago I cycled from London to Wiesbaden andn back to attend a friend's wedding and CSed 5 times - it was everything I hoped.
Last year I did a trip through Beglium and the Netherlands. This year is a big one. I'm cycling down to the Pyrenees with a freind of mine, and then hoping to come back via Avignon, Valence, Grenoble, Lyon, and the eastern part of the river Loire.
Hoping to CS as much as possible in the future (see 3rd personal philisophy) in order to meet some great people on the way!
Interests
I love learning - about anything really. I like to enjoy other people's enthusiasm for life and what they do. As a musician I spend a lot of time examining emotion and how I think about expressing something, so anything that gets me out of that appeals to me!
In my spare time I love cycling, food, cricket, politics, learning, and meeting people.
- dining
- cooking
- yoga
- pilates

Music, Movies, and Books
Obviously I love music (mostly of the older sort) but I there are particular songs/pieces in almost every genre which appeal to me.
Books: mostly non-fiction - biographies, science, history.
I love opera too (Salome, Tristan und Isolde, Tosca, Der Rosenkavalier)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the sun rise on a perfect morning whilst on a beach in Northern Denmark.
Driving through the a rocky desert in Oman. It left me (a city boy) with an understanding of the definition of the word 'nothing'.
Arriving at the river Moselle just by Trittenheim when on my way to Trier. What a gobsmackingly beautiful sight:)
Teach, Learn, Share
What do I have to share?
Music I guess...violin, piano, practice skills and routines.
Cooking - I've a fair knowledge.
I really want to learn about maintaining our bodies - pilates, yoga, Alexander technique.
Definitely more cooking!
Learn about the world:)
