community building & spreading joie de vivre
ABOUT ME
My friend Jen says I take pride in the "labors of love." I am a great cook, housekeeper, gardener, tour guide, storyteller, scribbler and finger-painter. I can be a very independent and shy person at times but other times glow in social contexts, taking great joy in conversation and shared experiences. I rarely travel fast; it is important to me to know contours of cities and people, and to work and live in the beautiful, fun, and complicated places that woo me. That's why, though I never thought I could settle down, I am still in New Orleans and will be for a long while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travelled internationally in between school semesters (and through them, oops) as a youngun, then took to the states as an early twenty something. I've loved traveler's hostels when wandering into unknown cities, for companionship, and I've worked the front desk and lived at the local hostel, India House. So, making quick friends with (commonly) kindred spirits is something I am seasoned in. I am super excited to host at my house for folks who care more for a family kitchen and backyard garden and front porch lounging.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In Reno we tubed down a river, in-the-middle-of-the-city! And again in Denver. I never would have known such an experience was tangible and real, so thank you to my wonderful west coast hosts! Mostly I have been the one who hosted, and our version is sneaking into the rooftop hotel pools here.
Interests
reclaiming public spaces, caring for family and neighbors and communities, harm reduction especially, dog walks and picking flowers, gardening, reading, making art or assembling physical objects with intention, bicycle riding, scrabble and card games and four square

music before i came to new orleans i made many mixxtapes, researching through and through many genres or artists, experimenting with sounds. now i often let the headphones stay at home and listen to the music on the street or what the bartenders are playing. local musicians here that i never ever can miss without feeling extremely guilty: slow danger brass band & why are we building such a big ship?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
shared a sleeping bag in a monastery in burma, we would wake up each morning before dawn to the growing hum of the monks chanting.
