About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Find a balance between living life and understanding life
Update: Gave up at least professionally trying to understand life (actually, nature). Now: Computers. This is easier and also fun ;)
ABOUT ME
Being a bit showily now, I was an ordinary physics student (if you know The Big Bang Theory: something in between Sheldon and Leonard) until I realized the Nobel Prize might never come but the seniority, and I should start to see something of the world.
Like my mission already states, I try to find a balance between those aspects, possibly combining both, like planning to continue studying abroad.
(Update: I study abroad now ;)
I am curious not only about nature as would be typical for a physicist. I also want to learn about and feel the life of other people in other countries.
(Update: I have lived in Japan, India and Italy and the UK in the meantime and learned a lot, and just moved to Switzerland)
I'd describe myself as an open-hearted and open-minded, honest, curious guy. And I like some craziness sometimes :) But most of the times I am rather calm and prefer one-to-one conversation over group activity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Originally joined when travelling, surfing in London and Paris, partly with friends.
Later surfed in India.
I have then hosted in Heidelberg until my landlord told me he did not like the idea, unfortunately. Haven't participated in a while but restarting now!
Interests
broadening my mind, getting better at the most different things (but I am still bad at everything! ;), understanding stuff, making music (bit of piano, bit of electronic music), cooking (just interest, not much experience), sports and health, programming, photography

Music, Movies, and Books
Two rather different books I like a lot: A Brave New World, Shantaram.
Music: Jazz, Prog Rock, Funk, ...
for going out: mostly electronic music (tech house, psytrance; electro swing).
I'm so bad at getting myself to read, listen to music and watch movies even though I can enjoy it so much! Don't know why that is...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I nearly died sailing in Sweden when I got into a thunderstorm. Felt intense and strange.
More recently, I climbed Mt. Fuji (3700m), a beautiful isolated vulcanic cone in Japan without knowing what to expect. The sunrise was the most anticipated of my life, (since I was freezing so much in wet cotton clothes waiting for it for 4 hours on the frozen top! ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you all the math up to master grade. Excited already? ;) Or explain some bits of how the universe works (of course, I don't know all the answers - probably nobody does!)
Countries I’ve Lived In
Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom
