About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It could be nice to meet new people, and since I like travelling but I earn little money, I'd also like to surf and meet people travelling

ABOUT ME

I'm a teacher and opera singer. I live alone, I have no children nor pets (I respect animals, but I prefer not to have any in my house). I don't smoke, I'd rather die of natural causes... (so please: smoke somewhere else, thank you!:-D). I'm a neat person, my house is clean and comfortable. My mother tongue is Italian, but I also speak English and French. I cook pretty well, I'm respectful and polite and I expect my guests will be the same. I'm reliable, precise and punctual. I have a good sense of humour, I'm a bit shy, I try to be friendly to everybody and consider freedom and respect as two of the most important values a person should have.
I'm interested in politics, and I tend to have a "lefty" ideology, near communism and socialism, but it's quite difficult for me to say that I like or agree with the actual Italian left parties and their politicians!
I also feel very sensitive to topics such as pollution, sources of energy, respect for environment, etc.
I have a small car.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that everybody should consider his home not just the house where he lives, but all the surroundings: the city, the nation... However, I notice that too many people are very careful towards what is strictly theirs (a car, a house, etc.), but don't care at all about the place where they live, so they can throw litter in the streets, get a car even when not necessary, instead of walking or taking a bus, waste precious things, not be careful to trash recycling, etc. We should understand that the planet where we live is not an endless dump and we should respect it more, starting from our very little daily behaviours.
"I have a dream": I would love that meritocracy would be always recognized and rewarded. If someone is a mediocre person, he should not obtain important jobs or prizes just because he knows someone important who helps him to get that. Only people who deserve this should obtain it!
I don't like neither scroungers nor tightfisted people. If one decides to couchsurf, it's not because he wants to save money scrounging a bed and a meal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have little experience of hosting people, none about surfing. I tend to be very selective.
A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MY HOUSE:
1. It is in a very small village, difficult to reach unless you have a car or a motorbike or similar;
2. I moved here recently and it's a very old house, large, with many rooms but still needing many works of restoration, cleaning, etc.
3. The heat are stoves and it is quite a cold house.
4. I accept no young people and no more than just ONE person, because there is no place for more
5. please write your request a few days in advance, because I don't open my e-mail very often and you may risk not to have a prompt reply.
6. Because I work and I tend to leave the house early in the morning and may come back late in the afternoon.
7. Please, before you send me your couch request, read carefully my profile to make sure that we can get along and we have things in common to talk about. The idea is not that you're just looking for a free place where to sleep, but to meet a person that can potentially become a friend!
8. I'll accept only people who have a detailed description of themselves on their profiles: I want to know whom I'm going to host.

Interests

I'm a curious person and I like many different kinds of knowledge and arts: books, Latin literature and history, photography, cinema, music, politics... I LOVE chocolate!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love any kind of literature, classics and contemporary authors, more or less of any genre. I like european cinema, especially Ken Loach's films, some American cinema (but almost nothing coming from the U.S.A.); films by important directors who have a meaning and a message. Cinema should amuse, but not only: it should make reflect and/or show a particular aspect of reality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote a book, a novel, that will be published around August. It's my first book and it is something very important and exciting.
