About Me
Hi :)
I am a PhD student from Sicily, Italy. I live in Lexington, KY and I love traveling. I've always loved traveling, in fact at the age of 16, I already decided to leave my country and be an exchange student for a year. Of all possible countries, I chose to go to Finland, because I was really curious to experience a really tough weather, that would be different from the warm temperature of southern Italy.
I think that tells enough about me, I am very curious to explore and get to know things that are most different from me. The more different, the more attractive. I consider myself a person that can very well adapt to situations and I am very flexible and accommodative.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here because I believe in the idea that by spending less money we are all allowed to travel more and enjoy our lives better. Also, I love to get to know people, share experiences, and have suggestions to live my staying the way locals do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in Finland, I went to Lapland with my friends, in the North Pole, during winter. It was clearly very cold, and so we went to have sauna, a tradition for Finnish people. When having a sauna, you might sometimes want to go out and experience the cold and hot feeling that is very nice and makes you feel alive. So we did that, and as soon as we came out we saw a bunch of people, doing some work in the frozen lake. So we got closer, and we realized that they were making a hole to have a little bath in the hole. They were professionals and they knew what they were doing, so they told us that we could join, but first we should have stayed for about 20-30 minutes in the sauna, reaching a temperature of 80 degrees C. So we did, we were all wearing socks or shoes because we couldn't even put our skin on the snow, but we were brave enough to quickly come down the whole through a little wooden staircase, stay there for no more than 2 seconds and then came out. I remember that as one of the times where my body felt most alive ever, it was amazing.
