Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To help create a world where people can live and love freely and joyfully.
ABOUT ME
The phrase I love to use to describe myself is "chronically optimistic". I can't explain it outside of some lucky chemical imbalance, but I almost always "keep on the sunny side of life". I try my best to approach every person I meet with all the compassion and sincerity I can muster, and as a result help people feel good. It's amazing what a smile and kind eyes can do. =)
PHILOSOPHY
Occasional sacrifice for the sake of responsible, authentic, joyful living. Respecting community in its broadest, most holistic sense, in other words, deep interconnectedness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed my way all around Northern and Central Europe, experiencing everything from sleeping in a stairwell in an apartment in Oslo, to spending the Midsummer holiday with a family at a traditional Finnish cabin in the Arctic Circle. I've been hosting folks from all over the world here at my communal house in Seattle.
Interests
Travel, wilderness hiking/camping, deep conversation, participating and learning from queer culture in its many manifestations, learning how to prepare and enjoy local delicious organic healthy food, mentoring, walking, cowboy boots that go clippity clop.

Music, Movies, and Books
I highly suggest the author Derrick Jensen, particularly the books "A Language Older than Words" and "The Culture of Make Believe". He is an impassioned and well researched critic of Western Culture. Another book that has shaped my worldview is David Abram's "The Spell of the Sensuous". "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker will always be tops on my list. I listen to a lot of old school music (Queen, Elton John, The Beatles) and enjoy some modern, more underground artists (Rufus, Postal Service, Damien Rice) as well as absolutely thriving on Musical Theater and Classical music!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The pink glow of the Midnight Sun on the horizon in the Arctic Circle.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to knit and can teach anyone to make their own special beanie (hat)! I also love classic card games (pinochle, spades, cribbage, gin rummy) and can easily spend a night playing cards with friends, including newly acquainted couch surfers!
