ABOUT ME

I am a mother of 2 (8 and 3) and a teacher in the making, and these two things take up the majority of my time.

I love going to the swimming pool, walking in nature, discovering new bookshops (small independent ones, I particularly love), reading, writing, learning about things and ideas I do not know about which could revolutionize our life (such as stuff found on TED), being taken out of my comfort zone (as long as it makes me grow). I have recently started to enjoy cooking and gardening, and have even started to considering container gardening in my backyard.

I love travelling, but hate the "commuting" part. I sometimes wish we could be teleported to anywhere on Earth to avoid this dreaded part of travelling in today's world (which, to me, is different from a journey - a journey going at a slower pace and allowing travelers to grow, but that is probably something to discuss in the Philosophy group;)

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself and enjoy every minute of this life, no matter how bad life can be sometimes, you do not know it, but it is always for the best.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have to confess and admit, I haven't been contributing a lot to CS2. I try to take part at my modest level, trying to attend local events, and welcome and help people who contact me for coffee or drink, or other visits in the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first true CS experience -ie using the site- was in Marakkesh in Morocco. It was great, a wonderful and comfy couch, with a brand new pillow...

My all time favourite movies is The Big Blue by Luc Besson, I also like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, La Vita e bella, Intermission, Ahlaam, This is England, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain and others...

As for books, there are so many, I am certainly going to forget a good number, but for a start: White Teeth by Zadie Smith, Siddartha by Herman Hesse, any by Boris Vian and same goes for Samuel Beckett, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, Perfume, by Patrick Suskind, Desperately Seeking Paradise by Ziauddin Sardar or Avicenne ou la route d'Ispahan by Gilbert Sinoué and so many others...I was about to forget The Little Prince by Antoine de St Exupery, a timeless favourite for the children in all of us:)

I like all kinds of music and as I am not really into music, I never remember what the name of the group or singer is.

* driving through the Connemara and finding the most beautiful beach you can find in Ireland and slept in the most remote hostel we could find in the middle of the woods... great souvenirs!

* been to a small remote fishermen's village called Al Khaissa, near Aden in Yemen: best weekends of my life (delicious food, fantastic people, interesting talks, nice weather, great atmosphere)

* I would like to share my experience as a volunteer for charities and also learn about yours, for possible common projects or simple networking

* I could also teach my native language, and I would like to learn and strengthen other languages I know as well
