About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Chop wood, carry water.
ABOUT ME
First thing is that I'm a bit obsessed with trees, and often measure and document trees and forests as a member of the Eastern Native Tree Society (ENTS, get it?). I also like to grow, gather, or capture food, and I REALLY like to cook it. I've spent time on and off between WNY locales and broader (usually cheap) travels. Looking to get into mead brewing and back into the art I used to make. I like to ride and repair bicycles. I'm a tad introverted but do very much enjoy getting to know new people and exploring unfamiliar situations.
PHILOSOPHY
I just like to keep moving, mostly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed on a number of trips and my couch is presently open for sleeping.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed in NYC, DC, Durham NC and Raleigh NC while meandering as a hobo a few years ago and had a great time. Surfed a few nights in Cincinnati the winter before last with my girlfriend. More recently hosted a fine surfer while living in Fredonia, then surfed out in Denver last summer with some particularly interesting folks. We've also hosted a couple great folks traveling through WNY. All my experience so far has been pretty great!
Interests
Hiking, brewing, big trees, bicycles and other human-powered technologies, exploring any given gorge, reading and hopefully someday writing something others will read, photography, and permaculture models.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to the sacred Inca island of the sun on the SOLstice and the sun didn't show all day. What a jip. Really though, it was great.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to show anyone some beautiful trees and forests in the area, of course. I can also teach some basic bicycle repair, how to identify and use a wide swath of the local flora for food or medicing, how to manage a small herd of grass-fed cattle, slaughter a chicken, pluck a duck, turn a tree into nicely stacked wood, camp happily with a lot less gear, and how to cook some darn good (if unconventional) meals on a rather tight budget.
