Er... breathing is the key to life. My life, I don't think of it all that linearly, but it's still quite a journey. Kind of an overused metaphor, but it is, and I don't particularly know if I have the right compass, but I also don't particularly care if it is right. Damn metaphors, aren't they supposed to make language conveyable?
Beginning at the University of California, Berkeley, I had a love for the idiom of jazz, especially the improvisation aspect of it. However, I think I had some uneasiness in playing spontaneously and on the fly... I think I thought too much, like the amount of time light takes to travel in reflecting off of infinite mirrors. From that, I involved myself in meditation practice and every action became just that, meditation. An interest in unconscious states grew and I read more and more about dreams, specifically musical dreams. Are we creative when we sleep? What causes the music we have in our dreams? And then I was subsequently turned on to the work of Pierre Boulez and surrealism. Bam. That's still kind of where I'm at. Not that I'm stuck at some point. But that is about as clear as I can explain myself. Completely irrational, but as clear as can be. As of yet, I have couchsurfed only once, but even so, in my opinion, it's absolutely genius. If I ever have a couch and comfortable abode of my own, it will open to all those 'round the world.

Going to sleep in the wilderness listening to "A Love Supreme" over and over. Doesn't sound all that amazing, but for me, such a simple experience was something "amazing".
