About Me

My family loves to travel. We have been to all 50 states as well as many other countries. We especially enjoy outdoor recreation such as snow skiing, whitewater rafting & kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, geocaching, boating, wake-boarding, camping etc. We are nearing the end of a long remodel of our home and we hope to share it with guests soon.
The best part of my life is my lovely wife Amber, and my two young adult kids.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love to take road trips in our truck which is set up for easy camping. It's often easier for us to sleep in the camper shell bed we set up (which is quite comfortable), or utility trailer. If we're traveling a fair distance we may sometimes just be looking for a place to park/sleep for the night before moving on the next day.

We also of course love the idea of meeting new people and getting the inside scoop on the local areas.

Interests

I have a non-profit organization in Washington with the mission of getting kids and marginalized groups involved in outdoor recreation. I teach environmental education and work with adventure based counseling. I'm a certified wilderness first responder, life guard, rope technician, and swift water rescue.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I travel in a uniquely set up vehicle that runs on waste vegetable oil. This saves us on travel costs which allows for more travel (which we love). It's better for the environment and smells better than diesel too.
We love hearing and sharing stories of adventures around the world. My wife works as a reviewer for Groundspeak (Geocaching) and loves to share about this great sport.
