About Me

Hi everyone! I'm Eric from San Antonio, Texas. I'm currently studying Zoology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. I love animals, camping, and the outdoors. I'm always looking for new and exciting habitats, animals, and adventures from around the world.

I've worked with a bunch of animals including: capuchin and squirrel monkeys, Florida manatees, and various animals, domestic and wild, that come in for treatment at UF's veterinary hospital.

Am studying abroad at James Cook University, but am exploring Australia some before I head up there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I see Couchsurfing as a great way to help me pursue more adventures, meet new people, and experience new cultures. I am studying abroad in Australia starting in July of 2018, so I will head down under early to try and experience the country and culture before classes end (and who knows, maybe stay a little afterwards). I think surfing will help me see the sights, and meet great people from around the world; to see the area like a local.
One thing I hope to experience is hearing other people's stories and adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to country (like Brad Paisley) and alternative (like Imagine Dragons).
I have seen pretty much all the Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, and Pixar movies, and can probably beat you in trivia about them.
If you play any song from “The Greatest Showman”, I will start singing along.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In summer 2017, I was a wilderness guide for the Boy Scouts of America High Adventure Base: Northern Tier. I would lead canoe trips into America's "Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness" and Canada's "Quetico Provincial Park". Spent three straight months living in a tent, being on trail or at base camp. It was a great experience, seeing a bull moose and baby beaver, howling with wild wolves, and scaring away a bear from our campsite.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach juggling! I know it isn't a life-changing skill, but I like to think it is a fun novelty to impress friends. And while I probably won't take this on most of my adventures, I can also slackline, basically an easier version of tightrope walking. So if you have a slackline too, I'd be glad to show you what I know.
I know a whole bunch about animals and environmental programs around the world directly saving them. I can say something about almost every animal, and if not, I'd love to find out!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always more than happy and willing to help around the house for thanks. Cleaning the dishes, mowing the lawn, even unclogging the toilet. I'm not an amazing cook, but I feel I can help with the basics. I'd like to think I am somewhat fit, so if you need help with manual labor, just ask!

Just ask, and I'll be happy to tell you about my adventures (and show pictures too).
