Overview
About Me
Am married 32 years with 4 kids. Three in their early twenties... and a 12 year old daughter. So, I'm living that culture again. Recently- she dragged me to a Taylor Swft concert. Wasn't super-excited but found myself singing along with an arena full of tween girls!
Grew up in SoCal, moved to Knoxville, TN 20 years ago. Have done a lot of different jobs, self-employed on and off- am very resourceful.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I took a cross-country road trip to the Grand Canyon last month with my two sons. We drove 28 hours straight through to get there, but then gradually made our way back. We used couchsurfing.com (my son has an account) for two nights on the way back. First we stayed in Pueblo, CO and then one night in Springfield, MO. Both hosts were super-friendly and welcoming. Had a great experience and want to try it again.
Interests
Have been creating and selling furniture lately. Refinishing drafting tables and making things with reclaimed pallets. Mainly tables, but have been making some cornhole sets (a southern thing) recently that have turned out real nice. Enjoy cycling- weather permitting most days commute to work on my bike. Am interested in music- I listen to a lot, but am also learning to play the sitar.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently listening to Claptone, really like Broken Bells, recently saw Borns live and am seeing Gary Clark, Jr. later this month. Am looking forward to new Coen Bros film, like Wes Anderson, saw Room a few weeks back. Probably seen the Matrix a dozen times. Mostly, still holds up... The last book I finished is Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. It's about throwing off the old ways of living that don't work anymore and living life to the fullest in the second part of life (I liked it- since I'm an old guy)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We've managed to raise four compassionate, well-adjusted kids. Not sure how we did it, so it really is amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Am definitely wanting to learn more about playing music. I can share a positive outlook on life and a "it gets better" ethos. Not sure what I can teach, but could possibly be an object lesson on how not to live... :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Got some good stories, I suppose...
