Overview
About Me
I am currently working towards earning my PhD in a field I am very passionate about, and that takes up a lot of my time, so what I can do in my free time to relax is crucial for my sanity. I am relaxed and laid back, although sometimes that gets me into trouble because I just figure things will work themselves out, see above. I love sports; Aussie rules, ice hockey and soccer are my favorites and I do what I can to play and watch them whenever I have the time. I have been lucky enough to live outside the US for a half a year and that was incredibly eye-opening to experience something different than I have ever known. I look forward to continuing to grow and expand my experiences the more that I travel, and especially meet people that live where I travel. When I can, I love to fix things and build anything I find interesting, it gets my inner MacGyver going. I also love to cook and have some drinks to socialize and wind down.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have had the most incredible experiences couchsurfing and met some of the most incredible people I have ever had the privilege to meet. I have been lucky to have been hosted by amazing hosts and met even more couchsurfers who are all around just great people. Couchsurfing has opened my mind to all of the truly awesome people that are out there that want to share not only their home with you, but also to share a part of their-self. I would love to continue to meet other people who have a passion for connecting with others sharing different experiences. I have no doubt that the best way to really explore a new area is to share it with a local who can tell you the things that you may have never heard about otherwise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Stumbled across some caves in New Zealand and went for a spontaneous spelunk. Only to turn my headlamp off for a second to then look up and see thousands of the most beautiful glow worms surrounding my friend and I in the cave. It was the most serene and truly awe inspiring moment I have been able to encounter in my travels.
Teach, Learn, Share
In my master's program, I was also a teacher as part of my education so I love to teach. I love to teach anything from random bits of information to science that is related to my field, if I don't do anything else, I hope I can teach you something new that can help you in some way later in your journey. I am always open to learning anything new and experiencing something that I have not seen or done before. If I do not know an answer, I will look it up until I figure it out, I love to learn new things, maybe it's that, that keeps me going in uni.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I always try to make whomever I am with either laugh or think deeply about something. I feel that I have some experiences that I can share that might be able to broaden someone's perspective or outlook on life. I love to listen and learn about people and their life's journey. I am open minded and am up for anything that might provide either a great experience or a great story.
