About Me
CURRENT MISSION I recently bought a house, called NOIZ, which I share with 11 other people. This house contains a community with a variety of interests between us. We are all trying to live our best lives here. As a house we focus on gardening, and eventually shaping the half acre of raw land here into a permaculture farm. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to live with. Please note that between all of us, we only have one full bathroom right now (while two are being built) and one composting toilet in an outhouse in the backyard. If you are a person who needs a lot of time getting ready in the bathroom, or aren't okay with shitting in a bucket, this isn't a good fit for you right now. If you don't mind those things, I would love to hear about your trip and why you'd like to stay with us. ABOUT ME Creating wildly, playing deeply, and being true. PHILOSOPHY Necessitate wildness.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I use couchsurfing both as a traveler and a host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've lived here hosting hundreds of guests, but am now just opening my house to those online. I've spent plenty of time on other folks floors around the country.
Interests
I enjoy running in the mountains during spring, summer and fall and in the winter I ski. I'm a self-taught pianist and composer. I like to build / design things out of wood, and metal. My focus was fine art and graphic design, but found my love for music and now I'm starting to enjoy visual art again. I like critical conversations that challenge my way of thinking about the world. I like to cook and prepare vegan and vegetarian food. Though I have distain for our industrialized modern way of life that alienates us from each other and destroys our environment, I am fascinated by technology. I am interested in bettering myself as a person by being more aware of my actions and attitudes, and in being open to criticism by those I care about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It was the day after a big snow storm. One of my favorite times to take to the mountains running. I was skirting a ridge heading deeper into the wilderness, furthering myself from the booming city behind me. Finally cresting the ridge I had been running parallel to I look down the valley that it opens to me and see a deer leap from the surprise I bring. Only feet from me I admire its strength; it's reactiveness to its surroundings, and in the periphery of my spectating gaze I see another animal slinking off down into the valley. This animal moved like none I'd ever seen before. The large feline periodically looked back at me until it came to a safe distance from me where we finally met eyes for several seconds. I stood tall, knowing it is protocol. I knew that I had just disrupted this hunter. I was the distraction that ruined possibly hours of tracking. I turned firmly and forced my legs to move slowly as my back was to the mountain lion. After I am under the ridge I began a sprint back to the booming safety of the city.
Teach, Learn, Share
You can teach, learn and share many things while you stay here. It depends on the availability and interest in the people living here and yours. I can personally show you around this small city and hike with you if I have time. We love to share meals together and make that happen once a week. If you feel excited about making food for the house, that is surely welcomed. There's lots of free food around between our Food Not Bombs food redistribution and a lot of dumpster dived goods.
