Overview
About Me
Hello! I am originally from Pennsylvania, in the USA but I now have my home base in Durango, Colorado. After graduating from university with a degree in environmental engineering, I sought out experiences farming. Since then, organic farming has been the main driving force in my life, and learning everything I can about building sustainable communities, growing food, and working with people of all cultures to create a living that is the most in tune with Nature as possible. My travels mainly reflect my desire to learn from peoples who also share these views and want to build connections and strong community, although I love traveling in general. Many of the biggest points of change in my life have been as the result of travel and I love to listen, share, and learn about other peoples experiences in this life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people who share many of the same desires as myself, and being a part of a community that so welcomes peoples of all cultures and backgrounds to intermingle and communicate together. The fact that we have that power at our leisure these days is a remarkable thing. I also am quite a frugal person and understand the importance of traveling on a budget, which is something that Couchsurfing helps with greatly. The combination of joining travelers together to share in each others experiences and provide help to one another in whatever ways possible is a beautiful thing to be a part of.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a pretty avid reader. I enjoy reading mostly nonfiction, although I do greatly enjoy certain fantasy, adventure, and saga novels, as well as many of the classic fiction books by the great writers of history. Many of the topics I read in nonfiction are related to farming, different cultures, traveling experiences/expeditions, philosophy, and nature related topics.
I am pretty open to most types of music, besides most current mainstream pop, or punk/hard rock. I have many favorite artists in the genres of folk, classic rock, singer/songwriter, bluegrass, classical, and jazz. I also play the guitar, and have played saxophone and piano in the past.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked into the crater of Haleakala on the island of Maui, Hawaii. A friend and I hitchiked from the shores of the island all the way to the top, and did not start the hike until 9 pm. It was a full moon hike, and we did the 11 miles all throughout the night. What made it magical was that it was a night of a total lunar eclipse, and a blood moon. Witnessing that all while walking through a Mars-like landscape was unlike any experience I have ever had.
Teach, Learn, Share
Anything about farming, sustainable communities, regenerative agriculture, nature, philosophy, and much more. I love discussions about wide ranges of topics, and believe in the changing of how we structure society politically, socially, and economically, we will progress forward into the next steps of our species evolution, as we face ever increasing changes due to the forces of changing climate.
What I Can Share with Hosts
An open mind who is willing to learn and listen to anybody's stories and experiences. I consider myself a pretty decent cook and would be more than willing to make meals for my host or help out with the preparation of meals. I have experience in construction, building, working on cars, and farming, and am handy with quite a few things around a household. I would love to provide help on any projects you may have going on in your life. Other than that, sharing company of course!
