About Me
Hello!
We are Katie and Eric. We are from the northeastern United States originally and have been traveling southeast Asia for the last three months. Like a lot of fellow backpackers, we saved up, sold all our possessions and struck out for parts unknown. Since taking this leap of faith we have met many wonderful people from all walks of life. We enjoy meeting new people and exploring new cultures, especially the food! We'd love to cook for you and learn about your culture and lifestyle.
Our interests are wide ranging and varied. Eric loves technology, computer science, languages, and video games. Katie loves history, arts and crafts, marine biology and puzzles/board games.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are on Couchsurfing to gain a deeper understanding of the people and places we visit. Instead of simply getting a room, we prefer to immerse ourselves in the culture and of course to meet new people. We enjoy talking with new people and learning more about this beautiful planet we inhabit. Since traveling we've been fortunate to meet lots of different people from all over the world. Some through our time using the Workaway platform and others through chance. Many of the people we encountered suggested using Couchsurfing, which we had not considered before, so we're here to give it a chance.

Music, Movies, and Books
We love a wide variety of music and media. We were raised in the 90's and so we love the music from that time but we also enjoy almost anything with a good melody. We are both voracious readers, in fact the hardest thing about leaving home was to give up all our books. We read mostly fiction, fantasy and science fiction but also enjoy more classic literature and autobiographies. We do love movies and Netflix. We brought over 300 gigabytes of our favorite movies on a hardrive while traveling to watch and share with friends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We have had many wonderful experiences while traveling and a few while back home too. Back home I (Eric) had the pleasure of bartending in both Boston and New Orleans, two very prolific and interesting cities. I've worked at small weddings and huge concerts, backyard events and VIP black tie galas at Harvard. Together we spent two years in New Orleans and had the experience of a lifetime during Mardi Gras. A two week event similar to Carnival where the whole city goes absolutely crazy with parties, parades, public drinking and wonderful food. Last year, we both dressed up in full costume and paraded through the streets in a Star Wars themed parade. We have many stories to share and would love to hear yours as well.
Teach, Learn, Share
As far as teachable skills we of course speak fluent English and are very accomplished with the language even in our home country. Eric has a fascination and talent for computers and related technology. Katie loves to crochet which is like knitting but with one needle.
We would love to learn about any skills you have to share, the local culture and your life experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We have our insatiable love for people and new experiences to share, our joy of cooking and learning and over 300 gigabytes of movies and music to share as well. We'd love to cook for you or take you with us to try some local cuisine.
