Overview
About Me
Excited to be back to hosting couch surfers again! I'm a busy PhD student and also like to travel a lot myself, but I will host whenever I can.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in the western United States and still miss those open valleys and big mountains. I love skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking. I always look forward to traveling and meeting new people even though I tend to be a quiet observer in new settings.
I collect hobbies and have taken classes in puppetry, sailing, guitar, tap dance, French, sign language, Spanish, singing, gymnastics, cooking, rock climbing, canyoneering, and photography. And I’m currently learning Hip Hop:)
Started couchsurfing when I was backpacking across Europe doing research. I found couch surfers and others to interview all over Europe for my master's thesis on young adults and free time.
I'm happy to show you around State College when I'm available. If you want to go out downtown, my favorite way to do that is with bar trivia. My schedule varies a lot as I am both a student and researcher on campus. I often head out of town on weekends, but will host when possible.
PHILOSOPHY
"You know, there are as many ways to live as there are people in this world. And each one deserves a closer look."
-Golly in Harriet the Spy
"Sitting there, alone in a foreign country, far from my job and everyone I know, a feeling came over me. It was like remembering something I'd never known before or had always been waiting for, but I didn't know what. Maybe it was something I'd forgotten or something I've been missing all my life. All I can say is that I felt, at the same time, joy and sadness. But not too much sadness, because I felt alive. Yes, alive. That was the moment I fell in love with Paris. And I felt Paris fall in love with me." -Carol in Paris, Je T'aime
I enjoy most types of people, however, you can expect your assumptions of gender, race, ableism, and heteronormativity to be questioned and challenged in my home.
