About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to look back at this year and have no regrets. I'd rather think back and say 'that was crazy' instead of 'that was nice'.

ABOUT ME

I strive to have a bipolar social life. I value crazy nights out with my friends as much as I do my alone time. I get down if I go too long without being left alone: I like having time to read or just think. There's nothing like going out and meeting a whole bunch of new people though.

I enjoy doing new things. I find routines can be comforting, as long as trying new things (activities, foods, meeting new people, etc) is part of that routine. Growing up, I enjoyed doing new things so much that I rarely became very good at them. I never dedicated myself to an instrument or sport since I always ended up longing to do something else after a while. Because of that, I can do a lot of things well, but not great.

PHILOSOPHY

Sieze the day, but plan for tomorrow. As much fun as it'd be to live each day like it's your last, you still have set up at least a bit for the next few thousand days ahead of you.

Interests

For sports, I enjoy snorkelling, surfing, skiing, hiking, running, and swimming. I'm always up to try something new though, and would love to skydive, rock climb, and sail.

I don't watch TV often, but when I do I'll watch:
- The Simpsons (and no, I can't stand Family Guy)
- Futurama
- South Park
It's not that I have a specific love for animated series, but sarcastic humor is the best. These shows nail it. The Office is good too.

If I had to watch a movie 10 times I'd probably pick a British comedy/action one like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Thrillers can be pretty awesome too. Se7en for example, or I am Legend were both spectacular.

I'm always up for doing something new.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up on Blink 182 and The Offspring. Now, I'm in love Stars, Ratatat, and M83. Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are likely the best books I've ever read, The Hobbit was also fantastic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding a motorcycle along the southern coast of India (Kerala). Sometimes the road was a picturesque gravel path along the edge of the ocean. It was surreal.

Scuba diving old shipwrecks in Caleta, Dominican Republic. I spent the next week after that floating on a cloud. It was the best scuba/snorkeling experience I've ever had.

Bungee jumping in Whistler, BC. The pure adrenaline rush of falling was something that I've never felt that intensely before.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sometimes the best thing to do is the one you're afraid of doing. I have memories of myself doing things that scared the hell out of me: public speaking, dancing, approaching the opposite sex. The experience of doing something that makes your palms sweat is one of a kind. Even when things didn't turn out my way, the experience was still worth it.
