About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visit all National Parks in the US and to see as many "The World's Largest...." as I can.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel, I have been to around 70 countries and to all 50 states in the US. I like to get off the beaten path, be it taking a bush plane into the wilderness in Alaska or hitch-hiking around Romania or taking a fishing boat in northern Norway. I like to do all outdoor activities (ex: snow shoe and sea kayaked in Alaska, canoed in Alabama, hiked above the Artic Circle in Sweden and hiked in Peru, white water rafted in Japan and Uganda, etc). I also like to visit historical sites such as battlefields or where significant events occurred (ex: street corner in Sarajevo Archduke Ferdinand was shot starting WWI).

PHILOSOPHY

Live each day like it's your last....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had many great experiences meeting new and interesting people around the world through CouchSurfing. I look forward to meeting even more through this site.

Interests

Love meeting new people and doing anything outdoors. I also love taking road trips, I have driven across the US 4 times (1. New Hampsire to Arizona, 2. Arizona to Washington DC, 3. New York to Georgia to Arizona, & 4. Alaska to Georgia) and everytime I have only taken mainly 2 lane highways, ate at Mom & Pop's, and either camped or stayed at Mom & Pop's. I think this is the true way to see a place. I have been to over half the National Parks in the US and am working on seeing the rest. I have also seem many of the "World's Largest" (ie the World's Largest Ball of Twine, the World's Largest Boot, the World's Largest Coffee Pot, the World's Largest Rocking Chair, the World's Largest Ear of Corn, World's Largest Ax, etc) and yes, they were all awesome!!! I also like to try the local food (be it raw horse meat in Japan, dog in South Korea, or guinea pig in Peru to name a few things) and to try new beers at local breweries.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most music but really love country music. I like to listen to live music, be it at a dive bar in Nashville or a street corner in Prague.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things that I have been blessed in being able to do and see I don't know even what to write. Some things I would consider universally amazing like seeing the sunrise at Machu Picchu or seeing the Northern Lights in Alaska. Others, which I actually treasure more, are things like sharing beers around a fire with complete strangers at Yellowstone National Park or seeing the pride and joy in my grandparents' eyes when they met their great-granddaughter for the first time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, Chad, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Iraq, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican City State, Viet Nam, Zambia
