I'm a professor of philosophy at a public university. I write books and articles about ethics. I've played bass (guitar and upright) in a number of rock, country, and bluegrass bands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learned the most about my home country the first time I left it. When I was 19, I hitchhiked from Edinburgh to London. A few years later, I hitchhiked about Germany. Those are some of my best travel experiences!
