ABOUT ME

We are both very sociable and easy going people with open minds. Always ready to try new things and listen to new stories. Our travels have taught us a lot about how people interact with each other and how they live alongside nature at times. We have both grown socially and environmentally conscious minds and try to use this knowledge in day to day living.
We have a passion for cooking and food from around the world. We are enjoying our photography experiments on our travels as amateurs! We love animals and are missing our 2 cats back home in England more than our family and friends!
We like to think we have a very good sense of humour and look to fill our time with as much laughter as is possible.

PHILOSOPHY

We both feel that the world needs to live in ways which makes people happy but not at the expense of others. We are liberal in our political views.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment we are both away for almost 1y from England so will not be able to host but when we return we would love to welcome people to Manchester and show them around England's wettest city!
We are interested in meeting local people with local knowledge to help improve our language skills and mainly show us a real insight into the places we travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are new to this service but did do a lot of homestays around India which was a very good experience at living with Indian families. One of the people we stayed with actually is a couchsurfer but we never knew!
I have grown up in a family which is a member of SERVAS - a similar organisation for meeting an hosting foreign guests.

Interests

Cooking and eating and sharing recipes and stories over dinner.
We are interested in wines, Chitra more than me.
We are enthusiastic about outdoor adventures though not as experienced as we would like to be. Recently in our travels we have began trekking for longer and to more remote areas.
We are beginning to improve our photography and also we have a passion for art.
We love the mountains more than the sands but both are welcome!
Finally we love playing games! Any games from across the world from board games to sports!

Music, Movies, and Books

Whereas together we like watching a range of movies from simple comedies to documentaries, Chitra loves also his horror movies, though we both like to stay away from the Hollywood stereotypes! We enjoy some world cinema as long as we can understand it!
He is also the main reader in our relationship and has a love for reading most books, fiction and factual. His favourite books are the Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman.
Music we both enjoy but Chitra is into his electronic/dance music a lot more than me. He enjoys DJing and also trying to make music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Together the most amazing thing we have done is an 8 day trek into the Himalayan mountains in India.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are both qualified general physicians and can impart western medical knowledge where possible. Chitra also has a passion for philosophy and spirituality and likes to discuss these topics with people he meets.
We are interested to learn about natural medicines and also indigenous cultures/practices.
We would love to learn more cooking skills and techniques also!
