About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living life in Boulder
ABOUT ME
A short history: I was born in the bay area CA, moved to CO in 2000, went to CU Boulder, studied computer science, got sucked into the environmental studies world, led an environmental activist student group, almost started a restaurant, graduated, got a gig doing contract web development, bought a mandolin, bicycled solo from Seattle to San Francisco couch surfing and camping, then spent 3 months living in southeastern Kansas getting to know extended family, picked up a farm dog, named him Sancho, and now here I am back in Boulder.
I'm a real easy going, honest, and friendly guy, comfortable and happy in just about every situation. Love to try new things and meet new people. I try to get outside as much as I can. I also have a love for sustainable agriculture and delicious food.
PHILOSOPHY
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Awesome.
Interests
I'm a big fan of things to be done outside. Climbing, biking, hiking, camping, backpacking. Also love seeing live music, mostly coffee shop sorts of things. Programming. Open source software. Good friends, fire pits, swimming pools, cliff diving, hot tubs, good beer, laughing. Sunrise hikes, midnight bike rides. Cooking, preserving, gardening, farming, permaculture. Meeting new people. Meeting old people. New perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to go for acoustic over electric: folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz. I like most everything though. And the best music is the home-made kind.
Daniel Quinn, Monkey Wrench Gang, George Orwell, Steinbeck, Kerouac, Brave New World, Derrick Jensen, Michael Pollan, Rolling Nowhere
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took three months to bike solo down the Pacific coast from Seattle to San Francisco. Finished with a 100 mile ride on Halloween, complete with a lunch beer at Russian River, sunset along the Marin coast, trick-or-treated candy bars in Sausalito, a 9pm ride over the Golden Gate bridge, and two full plates of pad thai on Market Street.
Trail building at Maroon Bells. Hiked in several miles and spent a few days moving heavy rocks around to make stairs for the trail up North Maroon Peak.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you web development and computer stuff. Also might be able to help you fix your bike, and I know my way around Boulder.
