Sobre mí

Read this first: I'm not asking you to write a poem or book about why you'd wanna stay with me and I don't wanna hide a "codeword". But please read my profile and specify your genuine interest, in that case I'll give you a genuine response and most likely accept your request. Can't wait to hear from you. All the best.

I figure it's most likely to come to this area for the Vipassana center Dhamma Dvāra in Triebel. If that's the case, you're welcome even more so. With metta. :)

ABOUT ME

Hey folks! It's been a while since I've been on here. This time round we gonna do it differently. So far I've always been on the receiving end, now it's about time to return all those favours!

I've been living in Berlin for 3 years, which has been quite an intense time. The city turned into somewhat of a home for me. All good things come to an end and so I left Berlin, headed for new adventures and challenges in more rural Saxony. In Berlin I learned about agriculture theoretically, while studying Agricultural Science at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. Now it's time to get to the practical side of it! From April to September I'll be doing an internship at Hofgut Eichigt (www.hofgut-eichigt.de), a big organic dairy farm near Oelsnitz.

You'll find me going nuts at punk gigs (more so in Berlin) just as well as reading a good book by the water, meditating, mountainbiking or rock climbing with friends. But what I enjoy most is to be surrounded by good people and talk. Might it be in a bar or at home over tea. I got the desire to stay passionate and intrigued. To find out what drives other people.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I'm in the fortunate situation of having my own four walls right now, I wanna give back some of the gratitude I received during my travels. You can feel welcome and at home in my place. I would like to spend time with you and show you a bit of my life and the area. And I would like to get to know you!

HOW I PARTICIPATE AS A COUCHSURFER

"The idea that they are always welcome is a protective illusion of the young. " - Patrick Leigh Fermor

I don't expect anything from my host, but everything is possible. Couchsurfing is about someone opening his house to a total stranger who, in the best case (it happened to me a few times), leaves as a friend. The agreement is basically about a place to sleep and if that's all hosts can offer, that's fine. But then I might as well go to a hostel. I'm more interested in the person than the hygiene standards or if you've got the nicest pool out there. I wanna meet people from all different ways of life with different ideas and values. People that are interesting to talk to and to spend my time with. I for myself try to be the smallest burden I can be and will dedicate myself to the host rather than the tourist attractions, if that's what they want. But I'm happy to entertain myself just as well. Always depending on the situation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed with various and always incredible hosts around Australia and Southeast Asia and managed to attend a few meetings. Thanks for the awesome time!

Intereses

I love the outdoors, and since I moved to Saxony, suddenly it's at my doorstep (almost). The urban jungle was drawing me in for too long. When I get out there, I like to combine it with some sportive activities like mountainbiking, hiking, or rock climbing. I did hitchhike a lot when I was on the road and did a fair amount of cycle touring, the bicycle still is my favourite mean of transport.
During the time in Berlin I really re-discovered live music and I went to gigs quite often, it's one of the places where I feel, that I can just let everything out. Over here there's just the odd gig in Plauen every now and then. But the festival summer is just around the corner!
I've got a huge interest in politics, both on a local and bigger scale. Furthermore history (mainly modern European history) is one of my big interests and helps me to draw and understand connections. .
I'm interested in alternative ways of living and society, a new angle on life can't really hurt. cob-building, tiny houses, hitchhiking, community-supported agriculture, dumbster diving, food sharing - I guess couchsurfing features in this list as well.
Another interest of mine is food! In the sense of taste and cuisine and in the sense of a balanced diet. It can be a late night falafel, when you come out of the club, but generally I enjoy to cook for myself. All vegetarian. My humus ain't bad, I tell ya.

Música, películas y libros

BOOKS! The best travel companions and the best way to enjoy dark, rainy winter days. Some of my favourites:

Patrick Leigh Fermor - "A Time of Gifts"
George Orwell - "1984"
Wangari Maathai - "Unbowed"
Richard Flanagan - "The Narrow Road to the Deep North"
Romeo Dallaire - "Shake Hands with the Devil"
Hermann Hesse - "Steppenwolf"
Thor Heyerdahl - "Kon-Tiki"

Music is a big thing in my life. The genres vary, but after all punk, (post-) hardcore, ska and metal are the ones I always go back to. As Bob Marley once said: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” A few bands and musicians that really "hit" me:

Turbonegro, Idles, Converge, Propagandhi, Iron Chic, Behemoth, Anaal Nathrakh, The King Blues, Jaya the Cat, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Frank Turner, Kvelertak, Touché Amore, Sondaschule, Comeback Kid, Your Demise, Social Distortion, Mad Caddies, Rantanplan, Liedfett, Anti-Flag, Napalm Death, Architects, BRMC, Deez Nuts, The Smith Street Band, Dropkick Murphys, Modest Mouse, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones

Movies: B-Side, Victoria, Jagten, The Big Lebowski, Dr. Strangelove, I Daniel Blake, Searching For Sugar Man, Toni Erdmann...

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

There's always a time of gifts and a time of giving in everyones live. At the moment I might be more on the receiving end, but I try to give as much back to my hosts, as I can. It might be a dinner, it might be a little gift, it certainly will be a reference. And surely I'll try my best to share my culture, my ideas and make it a social interaction. In the original sense of Couchsurfing. You won't find a freeloader in me, as my references should proof.
