Overview
About Me
I love the outdoors and exploring new places. I've had some different experiences such as living in Bangkok,Thailand from the age of 2 through 9.
I graduated from Trinity University (San Antonio) in May 2014 with a BS in Geosciences. I spent this last year working in San Antonio at Southwest Research Institute and used some weekends to travel with friends twice to Big Bend NP (highly underrated) and Guadalupe Mountains NP.
I will attend the University of Kansas in the fall of 2015 as a geoscience graduate student.
Due to my housing situation, I am currently unable to offer accommodation to travelers. I am trying to change this and hope to be able to offer this ASAP.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's a great way for interesting people to share adventures while providing a nice, safe place to crash compared to the heavy expense of a run-down hotel.
Right now, I need help saving money and this is the best way to accomplish this although I also look forward to meeting new people especially those who are willing to use a site such as this to help others.
In the future I intend to host fellow travelers and look forward to assisting them and hearing about their past and future endeavors.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste is chaotic and wide ranging and, according to me, is 'good'. Some artists I enjoy include Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Gorillaz, Nas, and GZA.
I enjoy movies which are smarter, darker movies. Examples include Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese pictures, titles including American Psycho, There Will Be Blood, Apocalypse Now, Apocalypto, among numerous others.
I haven't read as much as I should but the literature I enjoyed the most thus far include american classics, Hemingway short stories, Ralph Ellison's: Invisible Man, Frost poems, and wilderness and philosophic fictions such as Call of the WIld and Jack Kerouac's works.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer between my sophmore and junior year of undergrad, I took a job at the McKinley Chalet Resort just outside of Denali National Park, Alaska. Many eastern Europeans come to work there in the summer and I shared a room with a Ukranian and Moldovan. I worked a shitty 40 hour per week job as a public area cleaner but the access to some of the most beautiful wilderness in the world was worth it. After work ended for the week, I would leave for the park and take 2-3 night, mostly solo, backpacking trips. On one such excursion, I was hiking down the side of a creek when three large grizzlies, about 50 yards away, passed me walking up the other side.
I plan on having a crazier adventure in the summer of 2015 when I will bike solo from Missoula, Montana to Anchorage, Alaska.
