About Me

CURRENT MISSION Perceiving the beauty in every single thing. Appreciate each situation. ABOUT ME I think I am a quite people, honest, friendly and discreet. I am a scientist but I have more a daydreamer temperament than earthbound. PHILOSOPHY I’m trying to constantly understand my feelings and my will, to open up my senses to my surrounding, to see with the heart and to remember that I am a child.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think CS is a good way to meet interesting people.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host but I am also interested to chill out in the city with couchsurfers or to have a drink.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the idea to host people after coming back from a travel in Taiwan in 2014 during which I spent good time with locals. I co-organized some CS events about personal growing. I appreciate to keep in touch with surfers after our encounter and made great encounters thanks to this website. I don't care if you are a verified member but I care that you read my profile before sending me a request.

Interests

I like hugs, laughter, smiles, tears and Hi fives! I appreciate kindness, fantasy, humour, sensitivity and intelligence. I can enjoy sadness when I know the reason of my feelings. I spend much time in concerts, cinema, visiting exhibitions. I like photography, I play the guitar and the clarinet and I am passionated about free musical improvisation. Currently, I spend more time in artistic projects: i I built a kinetic jellyfish sculpture, some lighting cloud hats for performances, I would like to build a nail violin and I’m working on some light and sound installations involving the reflection of light at the surface of water and the movement of tree branches in the wind. I enjoy reading. I am a nature and wilderness lover and I love hiking. I enjoy to watch clouds. I enjoy to learn about sciences and would like to work in neurosciences. I'm not really into politics nor sports.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some old and more recent movies that I liked: Forest Gump, Cages, Life is a miracle, Microcosmos, Kite Runners, Million dollar baby, A separation, Le concert, Into the wild, Pina, The lunchbox, Totoro, Her.

Some authors I like : Haruki Murakami, Yoko Ogawa, Manu Larcenet, Jon Krakauer, Jiro Taniguchi. J. K. Rowling, Marshall Rosenberg, Joshua Foer, Daniel Tammet, Oliver Sacks, Frans de Waal.

Some music I like: Lhasa de Sela, Bony King of Nowhere, Thomas Fersen, Anouar Brahem, Alexandre Tharaud, Goran Bregovic, Serge Gainsbourg, Radiohead, Yo-Yo Ma, Duo Montanaro-Cavez, Tarkovsky Quartet, Amiina.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 9 years old, I fed some seagulls on their flight and that was memorable!
I had the chance to see northern lights in Iceland.
I recently challenged myself to lie down alone in a crowded metro station to broaden my comfort zone and I found it fun!
I recently played some music illegally (without the required license) in the Brussels streets and I earned 41 cents!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach the basics of ukulele and we can share cooking recipes.
I'm interested to share stories (scientific, personal, dreams,...).
I also enjoy to learn special words and concepts. I like the french word 'pourriture noble' (noble rot) which is a grape mushroom that gives a special taste to wines, or 'petrichor' which denotes the smell of the rain in summer. I recently discovered the Japanese word 'wabi sabi' and feel inspired by it: it is sometimes said to be "the wisdom and beauty of imperfection"...
