About Me

Facebook: Eric Osterlund
Instagram: Eric.surfandsky

Easy going, helpful, outdoorsy, energetic, social.

I was born in Canada, am half Finnish, but I spent half of my life in the Dominican Republic. There, I grew up in a world of travelers; that, paired with my own parent's love for travel, I found that discovering the globe was not just something to do, but something I HAVE to do.

I've been traveling on my own since the age of 18, usually in search of amazing waves and beaches; at one point not having been home (D.R) for over 2.5 years.

Now I'm living near Chambéry, France, a complete switch from my usually destinations, but sometimes change is necessary for personal growth 😄

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couch surfing is an amazing way of getting to know people who share the same passion for traveling. Its such an inspiration to come across a fellow traveler who's seen so much of the world, and have overcome some incredible circumstances.

The exchange of knowledge is something that should not be taken for granted, either. Even with the advent of the internet, people to people knowledge transference is unequivocal.
When the case is reversed, I love sharing my story, journey, and lifestyle with those seeking to do the same in the near future.

Interests

Surfing, skydiving, salsa dancing, hiking, exploring, traveling, cooking (and eating 😋), adrenaline, socializing, movies

Music, Movies, and Books

I can appreciate all types of music, but some of my favorite is alternative rock, such as Alt J, and Foster the People.
Books: Pillars of the Earth, A brief History of nearly everything, Game of Thrones, Ready Player One, Celestine Prophecy, the Alchemist... And so many more.
Movies: Anything Comedic or brain teasing :)))

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfed 7.5-9 meter waves (25-30 ft). This was the most adrenaline that I've ever felt!
I know its "one amazing thing", but I got my Skydiving 'B' license which I'm quite proud of 😁🤙

Teach, Learn, Share

As I am fluent in English, Spanish, and French, I can teach any of those.
I also picked up ball juggling whilst in Australia and can definitely teach that and easily get you to a level that you can progress on your own afterwards.
If there happens to be a beach nearby I can teach surfing, or give you tips on kite surfing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Language skills, music if you have a guitar, I can teach juggling, my knowledge of the places I've been, and a LOT of random facts and skill sets. I can also cook a nice meal for us 🍝
