About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore, Enjoy, Protect.

ABOUT ME

My first couchsurfing experience was when traveling in Puerto Rico and staying with an awesome guy in San Juan. I was hooked. Living in San Francisco, one of the greatest cities on earth, means a lot of tourists come through, and I like to do what I can to help them stay on the cheap. My parents taught me the value of keeping your doors open: my mom and dad, on their WEDDING night, let two Dutch guys crash on the couch in their apartment in Venezuela. My dad carried my mom across the threshold, then went back out to help those guys with their luggage. Since then, I've lived in houses with up to a dozen people, most of them only tangentially related to me. And I loved every minute of it.
I always like trying to meet new people and make new friends wherever I go. If you like rock climbing (or would like to try it and live near crags), then we will most likely get along. Heck, I get along with most people, especially after an adult beverage or two (and if you like such beverages, I will make sure to bring some with me if you let me stay on your couch: I never want to show up empty-handed.)

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to get stressed out about everything. No one is going to get out of this alive anyway, so there's no point letting the little things bother you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am too broke to go out and see the world at the moment, so I invite the world to come see me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a few surfers at my place in SF, as well as crashing on couches in the US and abroad. I have never had a bad experience, so let's try to keep it that way!

Interests

Climbing, running, reading (currently working my way through free classic novels on my Kindle), biking, trying to keep up with my brother on board sports (not a chance), the environment and how to save it, exercising (both my body and my rights), meeting new people.
There are way too many things that interest me to sum it all up in this little box. I'm sure that we will share at least one common interest by the time we part.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fight Club (the book) - some people have said that after reading this book, they "understood me better." Not sure what that means, but I have read it a lot. I like other stuff too (Chuck Palahniuk, Cormac McCarthy, Lief Enger, Tolkien to name a couple).
Music - I try to be eclectic, but lately listening to way too much house music.
Movies - I'll probably watch anything once.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Geographic Harbor in Alaska. Flew in on a float plane, dug clams on the beach (until bears chased us off), caught and grilled fresh halibut on a tiny island that had beaches, meadows, and fjords, huge mountains that plummet into the sea. It's a gorgeous place, and I recommend it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm....what can I teach?
Climbing, Spanish (maybe?), some basic mechanic skills (oil change, tire rotation, etc.), stuff about Lord of the Rings, bike mechanic skills, basic wakeboarding/snowboarding, how to drive a stick shift.... Just ask, I'll see what I can do!
