About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make connections, meet people, hear stories, and add to my ever-increasing list of adventures.
ABOUT ME
I'm an East Coast native that recently enacted my own personal Manifest Destiny (or Return to Saturn, depending on who you ask) in search of a great job, great food, and great people.
I'm a geek, working in software and loving just about everything out there that blinks and beeps. Yes, a software engineer in Silicon Valley... What a shocker.
I've spent over a year of my life in France and consider it my extra-continental home. At some point, I want to get on a magical flying machine and explore some other brave new worlds, but there's something about The Hexagon that makes me want to pour all of my travel time into it, on the far-too-rare occasions that such opportunities arise.
Interests
If you bring up anything with me related to technology, software, or media, I'll probably have something to say about it. It's stopping me that's the hard part.
I still consider myself a writer and a movie buff, even though most movies I see these days make Roger Ebert spin in his grave, and most of my writing projects are modest and private. I've participated in NaNoWriMo (and "won") for the past three years, with an eye firmly planted on this year as well.
I was a very picky eater when I was little, but I've grown into someone who loves trying out restaurants, be they hole-in-the-wall secrets or five-star snoot fests. I'm active on EatWith and MeetUp, which means I spend a inordinate amount of time eating out with strangers. That said, I'm never one to turn down a home-cooked meal.
Dessert is a "select all" proposition; not a "select one" proposition.
I inherited a need to cultivate music playlists from my father. I'm respectful of nearly all kinds of music, with less of a leaning towards the rap and hip-hop spectrum and more of a leaning towards "the rock I grew up with" (stealing a tagline from a defunct radio station) and EDM, especially trance, which seems to wake me up, calm me down, keep me focused, distract me, or do whatever else I need good music to do at any particular moment. I've recently started going to clubs to hear the stuff live, and because the world needs to witness my hideous attempts at dancing.
