Hello! :)

I'm Erik, 19 years old and from Kassel in Germany. After I graduated from school last summer and I decided to go for my gap year to Spain as I am obsessed with traveling, meeting people and learning about other cultures. I am curious, open-minded and I love bringing my positivity to other people. Currently, I'm volunteering at a local Youth Organization in Jerez de la Frontera for 6 months to do something good.

I really fell in love with Spain and the Spanish mentality and I want to discover more of this country. I like talking to people but I can also be very quiet. I love my family and care a lot for my friends.

I love all kinds of sports, I play Volleyball and Badminton as well as to do Fitness and Yoga. In Spain I tried myself surfing, which was a lot of fun.

I love music, especially listening to Eurovision songs. I am playing the clarinet for several years and recently started learning the Ukulele.

I like spending my time outside in nature while hiking or going on bike trips with my friends. I am a very calm person but sometimes I also like to party. But the best time for me is sitting together, drinking wine and having deep talks about the reasons of life, society, travelling...

I love having a beer or a wine together with long conversations. And a good laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I have very little experience with Couchsurfing I find it the best way to really get to the other place. Not only the sites but the local mentality and cultural insides. It's a lovely way to combine traveling and getting to know new people and perspectives. Or even when hosting people to make their traveling possible and showing them the hidden gems of my own place. Especially for volunteers like me who doesn't have a lot of money, it's great ;).

Music, Movies, and Books

I am obsessed with Eurovision songs, for example: "Euphoria", "Ziti e buoni" (Maneskin) and this year's Spanish entry "Slo-mo" by Chanel.
I prefer series over movies and love comedy (The big bang theory, Modern family) and a guilty pleasure for trash TV ;-). I read a lot about Mindfulness, personal development, and sustainable lifestyles, sometimes romans, depending on what I got recommended by other people.

Teach, Learn, Share

My positivity and my smile :). And I can teach you some of my languages (German, English and Spanish). I like learning from people in general, from their experiences and perspective and I love to try out any kind of new things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a super enthusiastic, easy going person who loves to make jokes and cheers up people around. Not like I'm a clown haha, but I like to smile at people and share epic moments with new friends. I love to cook for people, I really enjoy while doing it.
