About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Leave no stone unturned

ABOUT ME

I believe that words and actions define a person -- not "about you" boxes on social networking sites.

PHILOSOPHY

These days, I have no M.O. in life all-encompassing enough to be called a philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The Bakken's a harsh place. I will help out fellow travelers exploring the New American Gold Rush any way I can, while maintaining my own personal security.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met a lot of couchsurfers through friends in Seoul that were hosting.

Interests

Hiking, photography, sailing, reading, writing, watching good movies, and hanging out with old and new friends are all things I enjoy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Evan Wright, Madeline L'Engle, William Gibson, George Orwell, Erroll Morris documentaries, David Fincher films, Jazzanova, Garbage, pretty much anything with a banjo and fiddle in it,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was studying in Freiburg, the German TV show "Wetten Dass" came to town. The premise of the show is that its hosts make various wagers with its contestants who then attempt to prove the hosts wrong in order to win prizes. For this episode, the hosts bet the whole town that its residents couldn't bring 150 dormitory bathroom doors to the town Muenster within the runtime of the program. When we got there, the Munsterplatz was packed to the gills. The whole thing reminded me of an acid-trip farce on the Nazi rallies, with ragamuffin university students substituted for stormtroopers and toilet doors in place of banners.

The Fireworks Festival in Busan was pretty cool, too. Especially when they lit the Gwangan on fire.

Learning to drive semi. Enough said.
