some favorite quotes:
From the Alchemist:
Then, we warriors of light must be prepared to have patience in difficult times and to know that the Universe is conspiring in our favor, even though we may not understand how. I ask myself: are defeats necessary? Well, necessary or not, they happen. When we first begin fighting for our dream, we have no experience and make many mistakes. The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times. so, why is it so important to live our personal calling if we are only going to suffer more than other people? Because, once we have overcome the defeats- and we always do- we are filled by a greater sense of euphoria and confidence. In the silence of our hearts, we know that we are proving ourselves worthy of the miracle of life. Each day, each hour, is part of the good fight. We strive to live with enthusiasm and pleasure.
"One final paragraph of advice: Do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am- a part time crusader, a half hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forest, encouter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves keep your brain active and live..."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
lived in 750 year old stone home on a hilltop hamlet (where less than 10 people live year round) in southern france, with the company of goats, sheep a couple neighbors/shepherds, 15 or so town dogs and a mountain bike as transport. MAN that was bliss!

Worldwide, 20,000 brands of beer are brewed in 180 styles, from ales, lagers, pilsner and stouts to bitters, cream ales and iced beers.
Commercial beer making was established in 1200 AD in present-day Germany. In 1506, the German Purity Law is issued, specifying that beer ingredients must only be water, barley, wheat and hops. Bottling of beer started in 1605.
